"Whatever you’re jumping into this year, let your steps be filled with boldness; let trust and wisdom guide your path, and let love lead you above everything else."
As the New Year comes, what is it that you’re walking into? 2018 might bring a fresh start— a chance to try again and start with a clean slate. This is the perfect time for the goal-setters, the dreamers, and those stuck in a rut. To me, there’s just something about a New Year that brings me excitement and anticipation for what’s to come.
2018 might bring a continuation of what’s been done in the past— a rollover of challenges or victories, of hurts or successes, or sometimes of all of the above rolled into one. It can be quite the realization when January 1st hits and we’re still the same humans with the same problems as we were on December 31st.
I have been reminded recently of what God promises us and wants for us as we walk out who He has called us to be. God has not given us a spirit of fear- He’s given us a spirit of boldness, of love, of sensibility (2 Timothy 1:7). The new year is a time to check in, to make changes, to start fresh. And while new beginnings can be liberating and hopeful, they can also be challenging and often scary.
Saying Yes and changing course often comes at the expense of going against the current. I am reminded that nothing is too late or too far gone for Jesus to transform. There is no pain that is felt that Jesus can’t empathize with. There is no victory that Jesus can’t celebrate. Each day, each breath, each new year is a chance at a fresh start— and Jesus is right there with us.
Whatever you’re jumping into this year, let your steps be filled with boldness; let trust and wisdom guide your path, and let love lead you above everything else.
